On April 2nd the Sunrise Rotarians were at Absolute Equestrian Centre helping Horses Help Canada with their Durham Location Open House.

Horses Help Canada creates a safe opportunity for youth with special needs and youth-at-risk to thrive. Through an amazing connection with horses, Horses Help Canada runs a program called H.E.A.L. This program removes barriers by partnering youth with horses in rural settings so that they can work through issues resulting from low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence, as well as feelings of anxiety and fear. This helps them to become vital, self aware, active community members, capable of building healthy relationships, understanding their own boundaries and developing communication skills.

In addition to attending and helping out, the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise gave a generous donation of $2,000.00 to Horses Help Canada.

Through their Vocational Committee and Community Service Committee, the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise invests in our local community, giving back to numerous organizations and charities.

On behalf of Horses Help Canada we would like to express our appreciation for a fabulous day full of laughter at our Durham Open House location hosted at Absolute Equestrian Centre on April 2, 2017. We had lots of fun and laughter and it was a day full of sunshine. We were thrilled to have honorary Rotarians attend to and do a fabulous job with our BBQ.   A special thank you to Wayne Taylor, Joyce Marshall, Rob Morton, Lorne Coe, Derek Gleed.  We had a good chuckle when the "pony" came too close to Lorne!!!!. Our mission is to one day get Lorne to face his fear... and participate in one of our programs and work with a horse.  We would also like to express our gratitude for the generous donation of $2,000.00 from the Vocational Committee and the Community Service Committee.  Thank you for "Helping us Help Youth".
