Ryan McCaul
Inclusive Instruments

Ryan McCaul is a Music Educator and Inclusive Designer based in Durham Region. He holds a masters degree in Music Education and Graduate certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is an Ontario College of Teachers certified teacher in Instrumental and Vocal Music, and holds a Bachelor of Music, Honours specialization in music education Degree from Western University in London, Ontario.

 

He is founder of Inclusive Instruments, an organization which creates adaptive musical instruments for anyone living with a disability and provides them with inclusive music sessions to create truly inclusive community through music.

He has also been lead teacher and president of AMPED, a music mentorship program teaching music to incarcerated youth in the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center in Chicago, Illinois. He also taught music and elementary education in both Illinois and Ontario.

 

Ryan McCaul will be presenting about his work at Inclusive Instruments. Inclusive Instruments creates custom adaptive musical instruments for anyone living with a disability and offers inclusive music sessions. Ryan will be sharing some of his experiences creating instruments and creating music in inclusive settings, what he has learned about inclusion and the power of music to help facilitate inclusion, and what Inclusive Instruments is doing in the Durham Region.
