Sunrise Foundation Funding
Funding for the Sunrise Foundation originally came from bingos that were run by a handful of members and later taken on by the whole club. During the period of 1998-1999, the club experienced a large financial excess and as a result, it established a policy that the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise would annually donate $1,000 or 50% of the excess remaining at the end of the fiscal year (whichever is greater) to the Sunrise Foundation as a principle going forward. The Sunrise Foundation also receives regular donations from the public and members. Donations are receipted accordingly. One popular method of donations is in memory of deceased individuals, in lieu of flowers. In such cases donations will be acknowledged by a letter of thanks to the donor and to the bereaved, and a charitable donation receipt will be issued to the donor.
